Bug#465185: libnss-ldap: crashes bash when try to tab complete ~<userid>

when i sudo up to root with sudo su - from my account (alex) and then
try ls -l ~al<tab> it crashes with

malloc: unknown:0: assertion botched
free: start and end chunk sizes differ
last command: ls -l

I am guessing that it is libnss-ldap, all my userids are in ldap and
this work on a machine with similiar setup but a previous version of
