Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
   launch gvim
   * What was the outcome of this action?

   The gvim window is miss displayed an unusable (see attached
   screenshot) and there are some erros on the console:

   (gvim:21136): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_size_request: assertion 'width >= -1' failed

This is a known bug, caused by a change of behavior in gtk3.  There's
ongoing discussion about whether it should be fixed in gtk or Vim.

Reassigning to the Gtk bug (which was already marked as affecting
vim-gtk3, so it should have shown up when you searched for bugs).
