Bug#916615: rust-ripgrep: FTBFS on big-endian targets due to testsuite failures

John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
Source: rust-ripgrep
Version: 0.10.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream
Justification: fails to build from source

Hello!

rust-ripgrep fails to build from source on big-endian targets due to
testsuite failures. Most likely, the code wasn't tested on BE targets
upstream.

Tail of the build log:

Bug#916615: rust-ripgrep: FTBFS on big-endian targets due to testsuite failures

peter green-2
Since upstream claimed this issue could not be reproduced, I decided to run a test on zelenka.debian.org

The build did fail with a testsuite failure, but it looked nothing like the one in the buildd log. Rather than most tests passing and a few failing most tests failed, I looked at a few of the failing tests and all the ones I looked at failed with "permission denied" errors.

I attatch a build log, any idea what might be going on?

Hello!

rust-ripgrep fails to build from source on big-endian targets due to
testsuite failures. Most likely, the code wasn't tested on BE targets
upstream.
