Dear maintainer:

I tried to build this package in buster but it failed:

(The above is just how the build ends and not necessarily the most relevant part)

The build was made in my autobuilder with "dpkg-buildpackage -A"
and it also fails here:

https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/unstable/amd64/fannj.html

where you can get a full build log if you need it.

If this is really a bug in one of the build-depends, please use reassign and affects,
so that this is still visible in the BTS web page for this package.

Thanks.

Bug#923749: fannj: FTBFS in buster/sid

Andreas Tille-5
Hi,

as far as I understood the Debian Java team agreed that droping the
documentation is an appropriate way to deal with errors like this:

Creating destination directory: "debian/_jh_build.javadoc/api/"
javadoc: error - The code being documented uses packages in the unnamed module, but the packages defined in /usr/share/doc/default-jdk-doc/api/ are in named modules.
javadoc: error - The code being documented uses packages in the unnamed module, but the packages defined in /usr/share/doc/default-jre-headless/api/ are in named modules.
javadoc: error - The code being documented uses packages in the unnamed module, but the packages defined in /usr/share/doc/default-jdk-doc/api/ are in named modules.

Do you have any recommendation what is the most simple way to do so for
this package to fit the freeze policy (for sure a fix for the issue
would be helpful as well).

Kind regards

       Andreas.

PS: Daniel, packages touching the topic of neural networks are also
maintained in Debian Science team.  You might like to consider
joining this team and maintain fannj there.  Maintaining this package
in Debian Java team is an alternative as well.  I'd strongly recommend
to do so to maintain the package in a repository on salsa.debian.org

Bug#923749: Potential bug in jh_build (Was: fannj: FTBFS in buster/sid)

Andreas Tille-5
In reply to this post by Santiago Vila-2
Hi,

I'd like to make some noise again about this issue.  I'm concerned
about the fact that

    jh_build --javadoc-opts='-link /usr/share/doc/default-jdk-doc/api'

was creating a JAR file until some point in time but it does not
any more.  Is this a bug in jh_build?

Kind regards

      Andreas.

Bug#923749: Is anybody able to reproduce this issue (help urgently needed) (Was: Potential bug in jh_build (Was: fannj: FTBFS in buster/sid))

Andreas Tille-5
Hi folks,

may be its a busy time right now but I'd like to salvage fannj and as I
wrote last week I suspect there might be an issue in jh_build that used
to build a proper JAR before but stoped doing so.  Is anybody able to
reproduce that issue or is it just me?

Kind regards

      Andreas.

There was a bug in javatools which was fixed by Niels a few days ago:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=927676

Could it be related?

(I'm going to build fannj again in sid to find out)
(I've also just retriggered rebuilds in reproducible-builds)

Thanks.

The FTBFS still happens in both my autobuilders and
reproducible-builds in sid.

I also believe it is an issue in jh_build, as I have a successful
build in 2019-01-10 and a failed build in 2019-01-21 for the same
version of fannj.

If this is one of those weird bugs which only happen in
reproducible-builds and/or my autobuilders, please contact me
privately and I will gladly offer ssh access to a test machine.

Thanks.
