Bug#945553: binutils: FTBFS with strip-nondeterminism installed

Daniel Schepler-6
Source: binutils
Version: 2.33.1-4
Severity: normal

My trial build, in a container with lots of extra packages installed
including strip-nondeterminism, ends with:

: # Get rid of .la files since libtool obviously has no idea about
transient paths
rm -f debian/binutils-s390x-linux-gnu/usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/s390x-linux-gnu/lib/*.la
if which strip-nondeterminism >/dev/null 2>&1; then \
  find debian/binutils-s390x-linux-gnu -name '*.a' -print0 \
    | xargs -0r strip-nondeterminism --type ar; \
ar: Unknown file type
xargs: strip-nondeterminism: exited with status 255; aborting
make: *** [debian/rules:850: stamps/install.s390x] Error 124
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary subprocess
returned exit status 2

(This also affects cross-toolchain-base* but I'm supposing it's
because those source packages use binutils-source.)
