Stable printing regression drv:///sample.drv/genericpcl.ppd

I recently did an update  [1] on a Debian based stretch distro and now a users complains that " it does nothing for 5 minutes and then prints the page".

I'm not quite sure where to start debugging this. Could anyone offer some practical advice?

Looking at an error_log is a first step:

BTW, it is always useful to give the make and model of the printer.
